Transmission Repair & Rebuilds

We Fix Yours. We Don't Just Swap It.

Not Another Exchange Unit

Most shops handle transmission problems the same way: diagnose a failure, order an exchange unit, swap it in. You pay for a 'new' transmission that's actually a remanufactured unit of unknown quality, and your original goes back as a core.

We don't work that way.

We diagnose the actual problem. We test. If a rebuild is needed, we send your transmission to our builder — a specialist with 49 years of experience — who disassembles it, documents what's wrong, and fixes what needs fixing. You get pictures. You get options. You get your transmission back, built right.

Exchange Units Are a Gamble

Here's what happens with a typical exchange transmission:

1. Your transmission fails
2. Shop orders a remanufactured unit from a supplier
3. Your transmission gets pulled, exchange goes in
4. Your original becomes someone else's 'remanufactured' unit

Unknown Quality

You don't know who rebuilt the exchange unit or how well

Unknown History

You don't know what was actually wrong with it before rebuild

Limited Warranties

Exchange units often come with fine print and limited coverage

Overpaying

You're paying for a complete transmission when yours might only need specific repairs

Custom Rebuilds by a 49-Year Specialist

When you bring us a transmission problem, here's what actually happens:

1. Diagnosis First

We don't guess. We test the transmission, check codes, inspect fluid condition, and identify the actual failure point. Sometimes it's not even the transmission — it could be electrical, a sensor, or a linkage issue.

2. Disassembled and Documented

If internal work is needed, we send your transmission to our builder. He disassembles it completely and documents what he finds — with photos. You see exactly what failed and why.

3. You Get Options

Maybe it's a minor repair. Maybe it needs a full rebuild. Maybe you want upgrades while it's apart. We give you the information and let you decide.

4. Built to Your Specs

Your transmission gets rebuilt with quality parts, proper tolerances, and any upgrades you've chosen. Not a mystery unit from a warehouse — yours, done right.

More Than Stock

Since we're rebuilding your transmission anyway, this is the time for upgrades

Shift Kits

Firmer, faster shifts that reduce clutch wear and improve durability.

Torque Capacity Upgrades

For towing, hauling, or added power. Built for how you actually use the vehicle.

Valve Body Modifications

Improved shift quality, faster engagement, and better durability under load.

Heavy-Duty Clutch Packs

Built for trucks and performance applications. Handles more torque, lasts longer.

Diesel-Specific Builds

Transmissions built to handle diesel torque. Common for Cummins, Duramax, PowerStroke.

Towing & Performance

If you've added a tuner, bigger tires, or tow regularly, a stock rebuild might not cut it.

Transmissions We Service

Automatic, manual, heavy-duty, and CVT

Automatic Transmissions

Domestic (Ford, GM, Chrysler/Ram), Asian (Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia, Subaru, Mazda), European (limited — call to confirm).

Heavy-Duty & Diesel

Allison, Aisin, Ford TorqShift, Ram 68RFE, AS69RC, GM 6L90, 10L90. Built for trucks that work.

Manual Transmissions

Diagnosis and repair, clutch replacement, flywheel resurfacing. All makes.

CVT Transmissions

Diagnosis and fluid service. We can advise on repair vs. replacement options for your specific unit.

Signs Your Transmission Needs Attention

Don't wait — transmission problems rarely fix themselves

Slipping

Engine revs but vehicle doesn't accelerate

Hard or Delayed Shifts

Harsh engagement or hesitation between gears

Grinding or Shaking

Vibration or grinding during shifts

Warning Light

Transmission or check engine light illuminated

Fluid Leak

Red or brown fluid under the vehicle

Burning Smell

Overheated fluid has a distinct burnt odor

Won't Engage

Vehicle won't go into Drive or Reverse

Noises in Neutral

Unusual sounds when parked in neutral

Not Every Problem Needs a Rebuild

Regular fluid maintenance prevents most transmission failures. We offer BG Transmission Service — a complete fluid exchange that removes old fluid, varnish, and deposits while installing fresh fluid with conditioners that protect seals and clutches.

If your transmission is shifting fine but you're due for service, fluid maintenance is a fraction of the cost of a rebuild.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about transmission repair

Should I rebuild or replace my transmission?

We prefer rebuilding your transmission over installing an exchange unit. With a rebuild, we fix exactly what's wrong, you see documentation of the failure, and you can add upgrades while it's apart. Exchange units are unknown quality from unknown sources. A custom rebuild by our 49-year specialist is typically better value and better quality.

How much does a transmission rebuild cost?

Transmission rebuild costs vary significantly based on the transmission type and what's actually wrong. A minor repair might be $1,500-2,500, while a full rebuild with upgrades could be $3,500-6,000+. We diagnose first and give you exact pricing before any work begins.

Can you repair CVT transmissions?

We diagnose CVT issues and perform fluid services. For internal CVT repairs, we'll advise whether repair or replacement makes more sense for your specific situation. CVT rebuilds aren't always cost-effective compared to replacement, depending on the failure.

What are the warning signs of transmission problems?

Common signs include slipping (engine revs but vehicle doesn't accelerate), hard or delayed shifts, grinding or shaking during shifts, transmission warning light, fluid leaks, burning smell, or unusual noises. Don't ignore these — transmission problems rarely fix themselves and usually get worse.

Do you work on diesel truck transmissions?

Yes. We service and rebuild heavy-duty transmissions including Allison, Aisin, Ford TorqShift, Ram 68RFE, and GM units. Diesel trucks put extra stress on transmissions, especially when towing. We can build yours to handle the load.

Get a proper diagnosis — not a guess. We'll tell you exactly what's wrong and give you real options.
