Fluid Maintenance Services

Your Vehicle Has a Lot of Fluids. They All Wear Out. We Can Help.

We're in the Business of Making Vehicles Last

Your vehicle doesn't just run on gasoline. It runs on transmission fluid, coolant, brake fluid, power steering fluid, and differential fluid. Every one of these breaks down over time — from heat, moisture, contamination, and just plain use.

Most people know about oil changes. Fewer think about the rest.

We use BG Products for our fluid services — professional-grade chemistry designed to clean, flush, and protect. Not the cheapest option, but the one that actually works. BG backs their services with a Lifetime Protection Plan that covers component failure up to $4,000–$6,000 if you keep up with maintenance.

Your Vehicle, Your Call

We get it — people approach maintenance differently.

Some customers bring in their owner's manual and follow the schedule to the letter. Some prefer to stick with the basics and skip the extras. Most are somewhere in between.

All of that is fine with us.

Here's how we see our job: we recommend what we think is best to make your vehicle last. You decide what actually gets done. No pressure, no judgment.

Here's the thing — we're all keeping vehicles longer than we used to. The average vehicle on the road is over 12 years old now. When you're planning to drive something for 200,000+ km, preventive maintenance stops being optional. It's what keeps a $4,000 transmission from failing at 180,000 km instead of lasting to 300,000.

BG Transmission Service

Your transmission is one of the most expensive components in your vehicle. It's also one of the most neglected.

Transmission fluid breaks down from heat and use. As it degrades, it loses its ability to lubricate, cool, and maintain hydraulic pressure. Deposits form on valve bodies and clutch packs. Shifting gets harder. Eventually, things start slipping.

A transmission rebuild can cost $3,000–$6,000. A fluid service costs a fraction of that.

Interval

Every 50,000 km

Signs You're Overdue

Hard shifting, slipping, shudder, dark/burnt fluid

BG Cooling System Service

Coolant doesn't just keep your engine from overheating — it protects against corrosion, lubricates the water pump, and keeps your heater working in January.

Over time, coolant becomes acidic as its additives deplete. This leads to internal corrosion, scale buildup, and deposits that restrict flow. Left unchecked, you're looking at heater core failures, water pump failures, and overheating — all expensive repairs that start with neglected coolant.

Interval

Every 50,000 km

Signs You're Overdue

Running hot, weak heater, rust in coolant, 5+ years since service

BG Brake Fluid Service

Brake fluid is hygroscopic — it absorbs moisture from the air. Over time, that moisture lowers the boiling point of your brake fluid and causes internal corrosion in your brake lines, calipers, and master cylinder.

Contaminated brake fluid leads to spongy pedal feel, reduced braking performance, and eventually component failure. In Alberta's climate, with our temperature swings and road salt, this happens faster than you'd think.

Interval

Every 50,000 km or when contaminated

Signs You're Overdue

Spongy pedal, longer pedal travel, dark fluid, 3+ years since service

BG Fuel System Service

Carbon deposits are a fact of life in modern engines. They form on fuel injectors, throttle bodies, intake valves, and combustion chambers. As they build up, you lose fuel efficiency, power, and throttle response.

This is especially true for GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) engines, where fuel doesn't wash over the intake valves. Carbon builds up fast, and there's no easy way to remove it without professional service.

BG Platinum Fuel System Service: Cleans injectors, throttle body, valves, and combustion chambers. Every 25,000 km.

BG GDI Fuel/Air Induction Service: Specifically targets intake valve carbon on direct injection engines. Every 24,000 km.

Standard Interval

Every 25,000 km

GDI Interval

Every 24,000 km

Signs You're Overdue

Poor fuel economy, rough idle, hesitation, loss of power

BG MOA — Engine Oil Supplement

BG MOA (Motor Oil Additive) is a pour-in supplement we can add to your oil change. It's designed to protect against sludge formation, oil breakdown, and deposit buildup between oil changes.

Think of it as insurance for your engine oil — especially useful if you:
• Do a lot of short trips (oil doesn't get fully up to temperature)
• Occasionally run past your oil change interval
• Want extra protection for a high-mileage engine
• Want to qualify for BG's Lifetime Protection Plan

MOA doesn't replace good oil — it enhances it.

BG Lifetime Protection Plan

Real coverage, not marketing

Up to $6,000 Coverage

Component failure coverage for engine, transmission, cooling, brake, power steering, and driveline systems.

Lifetime Coverage

Renews every time you get the service done at recommended intervals. Keep your records.

Real Claims Paid

BG has been backing their products since 1971. This isn't a gimmick — it's a real program.

Simple Process

Get BG services at recommended intervals, keep your records, file a claim if needed.

BG On The Road — 6 Months Roadside Assistance

Coverage includes:
• Towing service (accidents and disablements)
• Jump start service
• Flat tire assistance
• Lock-out service
• Emergency fluid delivery
• Trip routing service
• Emergency rental car coverage
• Emergency travel expense
• Theft/hit and run protection

Available anywhere in the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico. It's a nice bonus for services you should probably be doing anyway.

Not Sure What Your Vehicle Needs?

That's fine. Most people aren't.

Here's how we approach it:

1. Tell us about your vehicle — year, make, model, mileage
2. Tell us what you know — what's been done, what hasn't, any concerns
3. We'll look at your maintenance schedule and tell you what's due
4. You decide what to tackle and when

No pressure. No scare tactics. Just information so you can make a good decision.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about fluid maintenance

How often should I change my transmission fluid?

We recommend transmission fluid service every 50,000 km. If you tow, haul, or do a lot of stop-and-go driving, consider 40,000 km intervals. Many 'lifetime' fluids aren't really lifetime — they just outlast the warranty period.

What happens if I skip fluid maintenance?

Fluids break down over time from heat and contamination. Old transmission fluid leads to hard shifts and eventual failure. Degraded coolant causes corrosion and overheating. Contaminated brake fluid reduces stopping power. The repairs from neglected fluids cost far more than regular maintenance.

What are BG Products and why do you use them?

BG Products are professional-grade automotive chemicals used by dealerships and independent shops since 1971. They're more effective than basic fluid changes because they include cleaners that remove deposits and conditioners that protect components. BG also backs their services with a Lifetime Protection Plan covering component failure up to $6,000.

Is a coolant flush really necessary?

Yes. Coolant additives deplete over time, causing the fluid to become acidic. This leads to internal corrosion, scale buildup, and eventual failures of water pumps, heater cores, and radiators. A proper coolant service every 50,000 km prevents expensive cooling system repairs.

Why does brake fluid need to be changed?

Brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air over time. This moisture lowers the fluid's boiling point (causing brake fade under heavy use) and causes internal corrosion in brake lines, calipers, and the master cylinder. Fresh fluid maintains proper brake performance and prevents component damage.
