Diesel Services
Diesel Repair, Maintenance & Performance
From routine maintenance to major repairs and performance work — we keep Alberta's diesel trucks and equipment running right. In-house expertise plus a trusted partner shop for tuning and custom builds.
Diesel engines are built tough, but they need technicians who understand their unique systems — higher compression, turbocharging, complex fuel injection, and emissions controls that gas engines don't have. Getting diesel work done wrong costs serious money.
At Sylvan Lake AUTOPRO, our technicians have the diagnostic tools and hands-on experience to handle everything from routine diesel maintenance to complex head gasket repairs, turbo replacements, and exhaust system work. We service all makes — Duramax, Cummins, Power Stroke — trucks, equipment, and commercial vehicles.
For customers looking for performance tuning or custom work, we partner with a trusted local diesel performance shop. They handle the specialty builds while we take care of everything else — giving you one-stop diesel service without compromise.
Diesel Repair & Diagnostics
Diesel head gaskets fail differently than gas engines. We diagnose accurately and repair properly to avoid repeat failures.
Inspection, repair and replacement of turbochargers. We catch failing turbos before they send debris into your engine.
Injector problems cause poor performance, smoke, and hard starting. We test and replace injectors to restore proper operation.
Cold Alberta mornings are hard on diesel starting systems. We diagnose and repair glow plugs, controllers, and related components.
OEM and Snap-on diagnostic tools for diesel-specific codes and live data — fuel rail pressure, boost, injector balance rates, regen status.
Diesel engines run hotter and have more demanding cooling requirements. We service radiators, water pumps, thermostats, and EGR coolers.
Diesel Maintenance
Keep your diesel running reliably
Correct CK-4/FA-4 rated oils for your specific engine. Diesel oil requirements are different from gas engines — we get it right.
Critical for injector longevity. Diesel fuel filters need regular replacement to protect your expensive injection system.
Diesel exhaust fluid system maintenance and diagnosis. DEF problems trigger limp mode — we keep your system working properly.
Diesel particulate filter cleaning and forced regeneration. We diagnose DPF issues and restore proper exhaust flow.
ELC/OAT coolant flush and fill. Diesel engines require specific coolant types — we use the correct fluids for your application.
Transmission and differential service with heavy-duty fluids rated for diesel truck loads and towing.
Performance & Custom Work
Full-Service Diesel — Repair to Performance
We handle your diesel repair, maintenance, and diagnostics in-house. When you need performance tuning or custom work, we work directly with a trusted local diesel performance shop that specializes in it.
This partnership means you get one point of contact for all your diesel needs. We coordinate the work, ensure everything integrates properly, and stand behind the service. No bouncing between shops, no finger-pointing if something isn't right.
Exhaust System Service
Diesel exhaust systems take more abuse than gas vehicles — higher temperatures, more soot, and complex emissions equipment. We service the complete exhaust system including manifolds, up-pipes, downpipes, DPF, SCR catalysts, and mufflers.
Leaking exhaust manifolds are common on many diesel trucks and we catch them early during inspections before they cause turbo damage.
Diesel Diagnostics
Modern diesels are computer-controlled systems. A check engine light on a diesel could be anything from a simple sensor to a failing injector or turbo issue.
Our Snap-on and OEM diagnostic tools read diesel-specific codes and live data — fuel rail pressure, boost pressure, injector balance rates, regen status — to pinpoint problems accurately instead of guessing.
Commercial & Fleet Diesel
We service commercial diesel vehicles including CVIP inspections. If you run a fleet with diesel trucks or equipment, check out our fleet services program for scheduled maintenance and priority booking.
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about diesel service
What diesel truck brands do you service?
All major makes including Chevrolet/GMC (Duramax), Ford (Power Stroke), Ram (Cummins), and import diesels. Our diagnostic tools cover the full range of diesel platforms.
How often should I change oil in my diesel truck?
Most modern diesel trucks call for oil changes every 8,000–12,000 km depending on driving conditions. Towing, short trips, and cold Alberta winters push you toward the shorter interval. We use the correct CK-4 or FA-4 rated diesel oils for your specific engine.
What are the signs of a failing diesel head gasket?
White smoke from the exhaust, coolant loss without visible leaks, overheating, milky residue on the oil cap, or bubbling in the coolant reservoir. If you notice any of these, get it checked quickly — driving with a blown head gasket causes significantly more engine damage.
Do you work on DPF and DEF systems?
Yes. We service diesel particulate filters (DPF) including cleaning and forced regeneration, and diagnose DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) system issues. These emissions systems are complex and require proper diagnostic tools to service correctly.
Do you offer diesel performance work?
We handle all mechanical work in-house. For specialty tuning and custom builds, we partner with a trusted local diesel performance shop. This gives you access to performance work with the convenience of one shop managing everything.
Can you do CVIP inspections on diesel commercial vehicles?
Yes, we're licensed to perform Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP) inspections on diesel commercial vehicles. See our CVIP inspection page for details and pricing.
